The frame is constructed of Asian hardwood which is a rot-resistant. The mahogany-like wood is found and harvested naturally in Southeast Asia. A natural finish is applied to the hardwood frame (with a 7 coat marine varnish) that will weather gray when left outdoors and untreated for a period of time. The two-piece wooden pole is connected with the Shur-Fit system. The top pole features an added metal ring for an especially snug fit. When fully opened this umbrella gives 72.5 inches of head room. Four cords form an easy to use quad pulley system. The 9 ft. octagonal shade is available in Sunbrella.  It is a 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabric that withstands sun wind and rain.
