Two Getting Along on $65 a Month.

The first job I secured was in a Fifth Avenue shop at $12 a week, to which income I added now and then by private dressmaking after hours, my actual earnings being about $65 a month. I found a four-room apartment at the top of a six-story building no elevator with gas range, bathroom, and all modern improvements, for, $20 a month, Just below 150th Street, and two blocks from the Subway.
