Big Cement Dam Bursts and Sends Torrent Up-on Unsuspecting Town

COUDERSPORT, Penn., Sept. 30. -- Austin, an industrial town of 3,200 in the southwestern part of Potter County, is in ruins. It was swept by a flood about 2 o'clock this afternoon. Fire followed the flood, and to-night from 850 to 1,000 persons are dead and 2,000 men, women, and children are homeless. Late to-night 149 bodies had been recovered.
